Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know.

Does my child need to know how to play chess? โ–พ
Not at all! We welcome complete beginners. On Day 1 each child is assessed and placed in a skill-appropriate group. Our beginner sessions start from the very basics - how pieces move, board setup, and simple tactics.
What should my child bring each day? โ–พ
A packed lunch and water bottle. Comfortable clothing. A positive attitude! All chess equipment, worksheets, and materials are provided. No need to bring your own chess set.
What is the supervision ratio? โ–พ
We maintain a maximum of 1 adult per 10 children. Our team of 7 includes a Lead Instructor, 4 Assistant Instructors, a Camp Coordinator, and a Safety Floater. First aid is always on site.
What is the cancellation and refund policy? โ–พ
Full refund for cancellations before June 30, 2026. A 50% refund is available between July 1-7. No refund after July 7 as materials and staffing will have been committed.
What are the drop-off and pick-up rules? โ–พ
Drop-off begins at 8:45 AM. Pick-up is between 3:00-3:15 PM. A valid ID is required for anyone other than the registered guardian. Late pickups after 3:30 PM incur a $10 fee per 15-minute interval.
Will there be an afterschool club? โ–พ
Yes! We plan to launch a weekly afterschool chess club starting September 2026. Boot camp participants get first access and priority enrollment. Subscribe to our newsletter to be notified first.
Is the camp inclusive for kids with learning differences? โ–พ
Absolutely. We take a patient, inclusive approach. Please include any relevant information in the registration form and our team will be in touch to discuss accommodations before camp begins.
